Open Requirements: (All requirements must be met at time of application.) Completion of 45 quarter or 30 semester credit hours of course work from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of C or 2.0, which includes at least 5 quarter or 3 semester credit hours of college English. Must be 20 years of age at application and 21 years of age at the time of appointment; within normal weight range for height. Physical requirements for this position, including eyesight, hearing and other physical abilities are consistent with state law and guidelines. All successful candidates who have been offered a position will be required to pass a post offer physical and psychological examination prior to appointment.

Physical Ability Test Requirements
Applicants for the position of police officer must successfully complete the Physical Fitness Ability Test. This will be the next step after the written test. Applicants must pass this to continue in the hiring process. Applicants will be required to do this at least twice during the process. This is required for entrance into the CJTC Basic Law Enforcement Academy.

The PAT is the same for all applicants regardless of age or gender. All candidates must pass the physical tests listed on the CJTC website. On Public Safety Testing’s website, https://www.publicsafetytesting.com/informationcenter/info/index/page/test-requirements-policesheriff-physical-wa, there is a good section on the PAT which lays out workout strategies over a period of time to help one meet the challenge.
