"Uncle" Arrested near Cusick; Missing Teen is Safe |

Spokane Police, with the assistance of local law enforcement, located Steven Tofte (3/16/59) and Carrie Lane this evening near Cusick, Washington. Tofte was armed with a shotgun when he was taken into custody and police are in the process of reuniting Lane with her family. Tofte will be booked into Spokane County Jail for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and other possible charges.
This evening around 6:30pm, US Marshalls, Pend Orielle County Sheriff's Deputies, Stevens County Deputies and Spokane Police arrested wanted felon, Steven Tofte. Officers located Tofte and endangered teen, Carrie Lane, in a parking lot in the Colville National Forest, near Usk, Washington. Both were standing outside, near the suspect vehicle.
Tofte was armed with a shotgun at the time of his arrest but was placed in custody without incident. Carrie Lane is now safe and detectives are working to reunite her with her family.
The arrest was the result of regional law enforcement working together, along with community support to locate Carrie Lane. Her disappearance was broadcast on local media as well as via social media channels., which aided in Tofte's capture and Lane's safe return.
