Home invasion robbery suspect arrested

Contact : B. Eckersley #649 Date : 5/31/2012
Incident #: 12-166261

Spokane Police arrested 40 year-old David F. Smith for 1st degree armed robbery.  Smith was involved in a home invasion robbery on May 31st 2012, in the 1600 block of West Spofford.  He was with a second male who was also armed with a handgun.   The Spokane Police Department’s Patrol Anti Crime Team worked in collaboration with Major Crimes Detectives and the US Marshalls NW Violent Offenders Task Force to develop information in the case.  PACT team members located Smith at an apartment complex in the 800 block of West Cora and took him into custody without incident.  The second suspect is still outstanding.   Police are investigation several other home invasion robberies that could be related to these two suspects.

Victims are often reluctant to report these crimes because they can be drug related.  Home invasion robberies are violent and involve suspects with weapons in most cases.  We take these crimes seriously and urge anyone with information to call Crime Check at 456-2233 regardless of their own involvement in criminal activity.
