SPD Detectives Arrest Another Repeat Offender

Contact : Ofc. Jennifer DeRuwe Date : 6/21/2012
Incident #: 12-191737

Spokane Police Targeted Crimes Detectives located wanted Repeat Offender Jonathan Anderson this afternoon.  Anderson was located In Post Falls, Idaho, and subsequently attempted to avoid arrest.  Anderson struck an SPD Detective's vehicle and was quickly taken into custody at Argonne and Knox.  WSP and SCSO assisted in the arrest.

Details:  Spokane Police Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU) Detectives have been investigating Jonathan R. Anderson (11/14/87) for vehicle theft and burglary.  Detectives located him driving a stolen SUV in Post Falls, Idaho.  The vehicle had been stolen several days ago from a burglary at Dishman Dodge in Spokane Valley.

Around 2:30pm, TCU Detectives requested assistance from the Washington State Patrol and Spokane County Deputies to initiate a traffic stop on I-90.  Anderson took the Argonne Exit and a traffic stop was attempted at Argonne and Knox.  As undercover detectives blocked the suspect vehicle from escaping, Anderson struck a detectives car causing minor damage.  Fortunately, the detective was not injured.

There were three people in the stolen car when officers took Anderson into custody.  Anderson will be booked into the Spokane County Jail for his Felony Escape warrant.  The other two individuals are being interviewed.

Anderson earned his "Repeat Offender" status with 12 Felony Convictions - the majority of which are property crimes.  Anderson was released from state prison in February of this year, after serving time (since December 2008) for burglary charges.  Anderson has been very active lately, thus generating police attention.

SPD TCU Detectives are part of the US Marshall's Violent Offender Task Force, which allows them to cross state lines to search for wanted felons.
